Liquid Collection Station Launches

Post Date:09/16/2019 9:12 AM

MarkDuebner-liquidcollection091219As part of our efforts to enhance the passenger experience and promote environmental sustainability, Dallas Love Field launched a new liquid collection station. The station will allow passengers to empty and recycle their bottles before entering the TSA Security Checkpoint.

During a recent waste audit, DOA's Environmental Division found that more than 60 percent (by weight) of total waste in the TSA zone was liquid. This liquid contaminates other recyclable material, meaning the material is no longer recyclable and must go to the landfill.

By launching the liquid collection station, Love Field will be able to reduce the airport’s total waste and ensure recycled material is disposed of properly. In 2018, DAL earned level two carbon accreditation from ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation for its carbon footprint reduction efforts.
