Scope and Limits
Project limits includes Mockingbird lane (from Denton drive to Lemmon) and Herb Kelleher Way. The project scope will include landscape, lighting and wayfinding impartments along Herb Kelleher Way (the main entrance road to Dallas Love Field), a pedestrian friendly walkway along Mockingbird Lane from Denton to the Spirit of Flight Museum. It will also include replacement of the entry road sign and artwork.
Facts and Background
The Master Plan Update for Dallas Love Field Airport included recommendations for streetscape improvements for the entry road to the airport. Design process incorporated public outreach.
Current lighting pedestrian facilities and streetscape are inadequate and need improvement,
The project will enhance pedestrian pathways, enhanced lighting and intersection improvements for safer pedestrian crossing.
Improve customer and pedestrian safety elements along Herb Kelleher Way and Mockingbird at Dallas Love Field Airport. Aesthetics will support "Love Field District" and overall airport experience.
Enhancements including sidewalks, bicycle paths. landscaping. gateway features. street and pedestrian lighting, entry signage, upgrade of traffic signals and public art installation.
A stormwater pollution prevention plan will be in effect to mitigate any impact from stormwater runoff during construction.
Slight delay in and out of the airport are expected during construction. Through traffic on Mockingbird will also be slightly impacted during construction.
