Scope and Limits
This project will enhance the entry road to the airport. The project scope will include landscape, sidewalk, lighting, and wayfinding improvements along Herb Kelleher Way, a pedestrian friendly walkway along Mockingbird Lane from Denton to the Frontiers of Flight Museum. It also includes replacement of the entry road sign and installation of major public art project. Project limits include Mockingbird Lane (from Denton Drive to Lemmon) and Herb Kelleher Way.
Facts and Background
The Master Plan Update for Dallas Love Field Airport included recommendations for streetscape improvements for the entry road to the airport. Design process incorporated public outreach.
Current deficiencies include lack of adequate pedestrian amenities, street lighting, and minimal landscaping.
The project will improve pedestrian pathways with enhanced lighting make for safer pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Herb Kelleher Way and Mockingbird Lane, increase vehicle safety through enhanced streetlight, and make quality of life improvements through enhanced landscaping and artwork.
Improve customer and pedestrian safety elements along Herb Kelleher Way and Mockingbird at Dallas Love Field Airport. Aesthetics will support "Love Field District" and overall airport experience.
Enhancements including sidewalks, bicycle paths. landscaping. gateway features. street and pedestrian lighting, entry signage, upgrade of traffic signals and public art installation.
A stormwater pollution prevention plan will be in effect to mitigate any impact from stormwater runoff during construction.
Slight delay in and out of the airport are expected during construction. Through traffic on Mockingbird will also be slightly impacted during construction.
