Scope and LimitsDAL Garages A and B are equipped with fire hose valve standpipe system for fire department use only. In addition, the Parking Revenue Office on Garage B ground level is equipped with a wet-pipe fire sprinkler system. The fire hose standpipe systems in Garages A and B will be entirely replaced. New high purity-nitrogen pressurization systems will be installed to inhibit internal corrosion of the new standpipe systems. There is an existing automatic sprinkler system in the Parking Revenue Office, which will remain. To the extent possible, the existing standpipe systems will remain operational during phased installation of the new system.
Changes and Development
Due to the age of Garages A and B, the existing fire suppression system in both garages needs to be replaced. Garage A was completed and occupied in 1984 and provides 3,000 parking spaces. Garage B and the Pedestrian Concourse on Level 3 were completed in 2004. Garage B currently provides 4,000 parking spaces. Fire Suppression systems are original to both buildings. Both systems are past their useful lives and need to be replaced.
