Scope and Limits

The intent for the Dallas Love Field Runway 13L-31R RSA Improvements and Rehabilitate Taxiway A project is to correct the runway safety area (RSA) deficiencies with full RSA grading and installation of new drainage infrastructure along the Taxiway A side of the runway and rehabilitate the existing Taxiway A pavement between existing Taxiway A south and Taxiway A5.

Changes and Development

Dallas Love Field is currently served by Runways 13L-31R and 13R-31L. Runway 13L-31R is served by a full-length parallel Taxiway A and a full length dual parallel Taxiway B and Taxiway M. The existing concrete Taxiway A is exhibiting distresses due to the age of the pavement which have reached a severity level that can only be corrected with a full-depth reconstruction.

Safety

This project will also address safety-related improvements within the Runway 13L-31R safety area and at an existing hot spot at the north end of Taxiway A. Lastly, construction of a vehicle service road (VSR) around the Runway 13L end will provide a permanent paved route for vehicles around the runway end.

Regulatory Requirement

Regrade the infield areas south of Taxiway A5 between Taxiway A and Runway 13L-31R to meet FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5300-13B gradient requirements.

Purpose

The primary goal of the project is to replace the pavement that has exceeded its useful life and requires replacement.

Improvements

The improvements on Taxiway A will also include the reconstruction of the existing Alpha connectors to Runway 13L-31R and a bid alternate to construct a new Taxiway A4. 

Impact

This project is progressing into Phase 5 and is projected to be completed by April 2026.
