Creating a Sustainable Future for Dallas

The City of Dallas’ Department of Aviation is committed to building a more sustainable airport system that supports our people, protects our environment and prepares for the future. As stewards of one of the busiest medium-hub airports in the United States, we recognize our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact, support our local economy and elevate the customer experience.

The Sustainability Master Plan provides the framework for integrating sustainable practices across all areas of our operations. Explore our focus areas below to see how, together, we’re shaping a more sustainable future.

Get Involved

We invite you to join us on our sustainability journey with these tips:

Consider using alternative transportation methods, including mass transit or carpooling, to reduce your carbon footprint while traveling to and from the airport.

Help conserve energy by using energy-efficient equipment, turning off unused electronics, and utilizing renewable energy-powered charging stations throughout the airport.

Reduce the amount of waste and recycle properly when visiting. Remember to bring reusable water bottles instead of one-time use bottles and utilize the strategically placed liquid collection stations, if needed.

Conserve water by using our water-efficient fixtures, promptly reporting leaks, and ensuring materials are properly disposed of to prevent water pollution outside.

Support local pollinators and enjoy a visit to Bachman Lake or other City of Dallas parks while remembering to clean up after yourself.

Stay informed and spread the word about the Department of Aviation’s sustainability efforts through social media. Share our initiatives with friends and family to inspire others.
